About Liberty Blood Count Analyser

Got a question about the use of Liberty?

  • Liberty is a connected blood count analyser for patients to self-test at home. Results are automatically shared with your healthcare professional to interpret.

Liberty measures haemoglobin, total white blood cell count, neutrophil count and platelet count from a finger prick sample.

  • The Liberty blood count analyser has been designed to be used by patients undergoing specific cancer therapies who require regular monitoring of blood counts.

Testing at home with the analyser may reduce the need for routine blood tests in healthcare centres and allow for remote monitoring in line with your healthcare professional’s advice.

  • No, Liberty is not available for purchase. If you are interested in using Liberty, please speak to your healthcare professional.

  • The dimensions of the Liberty blood count analyser are: Width = 300mm, Length (also Depth) = 250mm, and Height = 200mm.

  • Each device weighs less than 3kg.

  • Please get in touch with us by calling us on +44 191 743 7348 or emailing us at support@entia.co

  • Liberty blood count analyser is only used with Liberty cuvettes. All the cuvettes will be provided well within their expiration date. However, in the unlikely event that you notice a cuvette has passed its expiry date, please get in touch with us by calling us on +44 191 743 7348 or emailing us at support@entia.co The cuvette expiry date can be found on the foil cuvette package.

  • No, the Liberty blood count analyser is not waterproof. Please always keep Liberty dry, as water can damage the device.

  • You will periodically need to clean the blood count analyser, and we recommend cleaning it if there is any visible soiling on the device exterior or the cuvette holder. Instructions for cleaning can be found in the Liberty Instructions for Use, starting on page 28.

We recommend using an antibacterial wipe or spraying a microfibre cloth. Do not spray cleaning products directly onto the blood count analyser or use undiluted products like bleach.

  • It ranges between 5°C to 30°C. Ensure you use the blood count analyser in an environment that has stable room temperature.

  • Generally speaking, the Liberty blood count analyser can be stored and transported at 5-30°C. Temperatures outside of this range could damage the blood count analyser. So if you plan to travel by aeroplane, you must keep Liberty in your hand luggage, as the hold can get extremely cold.

  • When using the blood count analyser, please use the cable and charger provided. Please ensure you connect your device to a primary power source, such as a wall socket.

Please don’t use other cables or outlets, as this may cause damage to the device. Using cables or plugs not provided within your Liberty package may have different specifications, which may cause damage to the Liberty power supply and the blood count analyser.

Testing advice for the Liberty blood count analyser

  • For complete guidance on conducting a test with the Liberty blood count analyser, please refer to your Instructions for Use on pages 12 to 19 or the finger-pricking guide you received with your Liberty delivery.

You can also watch this quick demonstration video on performing a test here.

  • Your doctor or nurse will explain when you should do your Liberty test. The Liberty service team does not have access to your testing schedule.

  • We recommend the following tips outlined in the Liberty Instructions for Use starting on page 14. You can also watch this quick demonstration video on performing a test here.

    To get your blood flowing:

    • Please wash your hands in warm water before your test until they are nicely warmed through.

    • Before pricking, get moving, swing your arm, clench and unclench your hands into a fist.

    • After pricking, keep your hand below your elbow so blood naturally flows downward.

    To improve accuracy:

    • Make sure your hands are dry after washing so that water doesn’t mix with your sample

    • Do not squeeze your finger, as this can alter your sample or lead to an error

  • The lancet you’ll be using to take a sample has been selected to produce a large enough blood sample whilst minimising discomfort. Pricking may cause a brief stinging sensation, and some patients experience a small amount of bruising on their finger, but this varies from person to person.

Top tip: It is best to use the sides of your finger’s end to reduce discomfort, as there are fewer nerve endings. We advise you to prick the side of your non-dominant hand’s 3rd or 4th finger.

  • Please get in touch with your healthcare professional, who will advise you on the best course of action.

  • Most patients find that bleeding stops independently after a few minutes, but this can vary from person to person. It may be helpful to apply a small plaster to the area. If the bleeding does not stop or you have any concerns about bleeding, contact your healthcare professional for advice.
